About Us

Albuquerque Dance Divas offers accessible and affordable dance instruction for children ages 4–17. They specialize in multiple dance genres, including Jazz, Latin, Hip-Hop, Ballet, and Pom. Their environment is designed to be fun, positive, and empowering. The studio is home to The Divas, their elite competition dance team, offering a higher-level experience for students who are passionate and dedicated to advancing their skills.​

Stephanie Montoya

Stephanie Montoya began her life-long love for dance at age two when she began her dance training at Alwin’s School of the Dance. She was trained in classical ballet, The Cecchetti method, and Jazz. During high school she was a member of the Albuquerque High Bulldoggies state champions. Upon graduation, she earned her degree from NMSU in Sociology, and was a member of the student run dance company, Dancer’s Unlimited. In 2018, she was selected as a member of the Gladiator’s Professional Dance team. Currently, she is a member of Rosa: Latin Dance Performing Group.
Stephanie began teaching Jazz and Ballet in the schools for a recreational program in 2012 for three years before she opened up her own studio, The Dance Divas Performing Group. “The Divas” specialize in Latin, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet, and Pom, and have become a staple at events like local church fiestas, The NM State Fair, and Lovelace's Day of Dance.
Her emphasis is on building strong technical dancers, while helping kids spark a passion for dance and have fun. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, and cooking.

Marisa Cabrera​

Marisa is 12-years-old and in the 7th grade.  Her favorite color is red. She loves making people laugh and making new friends. Most of all, she loves to dance! Marisa has been dancing since the 3rd grade. It is her passion! Dance has helped her overcome her shyness. A fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Marisa loves to dance with the minis because they are so cute and tiny. "We are a really strong and beautiful team!"
Estrella Alderete
(Coach - Divas in Training and Captain - Divas and Stars)
Estrella is 12-years-old - officially now a 7th grader and an honor roll student. Her favorite color is purple - her favorite food is ribs. But dance is her passion! She has been dancing with Dance Divas since April of 2016. Estrella loves to teach the minis. To see them learn and grow makes her so happy! One of her goals is to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. She also wants to own a dance studio and teach. "I love to dance so much. I can dance every day for the rest of my life."
Ezabella Alderete
(Captain - Divas in Training)
Ezabella is 8-years-old and headed to the 3rd grade. Her favorite color is pink - her favorite food is corn. She started dancing in 2016. Being on stage for her very first recital was so much fun! I felt like I was a dancer in the movie, Pitch Perfect. Ezabella loves dancing with the Dance Divas team! She finds herself counting down the days to practice because she learns some awesome, fun dances. They also laugh and get along. The team is a family, from Coach Stephanie to our captains, and the dancers and parents. "We are all one TEAM!"
Terra Poth
(Coach)
Terra has danced since she was six years old. She's trained in multiple styles of dance including classical ballet, jazz, tap, hiphop, modern, contemporary, and lyrical. A former member of the Eldorado La Cuadrilla Drill Team and the New Mexico Ballet Company, she  competed in Youth American Grand Prix, and also attended many local competitions such as Showstoppers, Dance America Dance Olympics, KAR, Encore, Starpower, and Cathy Roe. She is currently a competitive Irish dancer with McTeggart Irish Dancers. "I encourage kids to keep dancing and never quit, because with many different dance styles out there you will find a style that you will thrive in."
